Application for a Compliance Audit - Candidate's Election Campaign Finances

The Municipal Elections Act, 1996, s. 88.33(1) provides that an elector who is entitled to vote in the municipal election in Town of LaSalle and has reasonable grounds to believe that a candidate has contravened a provision of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 relating to election campaign finances may apply for a compliance audit of the candidate’s election campaign finances.

Deadline for applications

The application must be made within 90 days after the latest of the following dates:

  1. The filing date under section 88.30.
  2. The date the candidate filed a financial statement, if the statement was filed within 30 days after the applicable filing date under section 88.30.
  3. The candidate’s supplementary filing date, if any, under section 88.30.
  4. The date on which the candidate’s extension, if any, under subsection 88.23 (6)

Please note that if you wish to request a compliance audit with respect to the campaign finances of a school board trustee candidate, you must contact the applicable school board.

I, the undersigned Applicant, am an elector as defined under Section 17(2) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, namely a person who:

  • resides in the Town of LaSalle or is the owner or tenant of land there, or the spouse of such owner or tenant;
  • is a Canadian citizen;
  • is at least 18 years old; and
  • is not prohibited from voting under Section 17(3)2 or otherwise by law.

Further, I have reasonable grounds for believing that the above-named Candidate has contravened the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 relating to the Candidate’s election campaign finances, the reasons for which I have provided above.

I believe the facts and information submitted above to be true, and I request a compliance audit of the candidate's campaign finances.

This information is collected under the authority of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, s. 88.33(2).
